As much of India is grappling with the harsh heat of April, Mumbai seems to be telling a different story this year. The city ended March with an unexpectedly cool and dry spell — daytime temperatures stayed below normal, and nights hovered around 23 to 26°C, which now feels warmer in comparison.
A Brief Return of Heat, Then a Welcome Twist
The beginning of April did hint at a comeback of the summer sun — with daytime highs hitting 36–37°C and sticky, humid nights. A dusty storm followed by light rain on April 4 offered brief relief, but that break was fleeting.
Now, new forecasts are giving Mumbaikars something to smile about — especially when it comes to night temperatures.
April 2025: Cooler Nights, Calmer Vibes
Compared to April 2024, which brought intense heatwaves across Maharashtra, this year feels significantly better. The days may still be toasty, but nights are offering a surprising amount of comfort — a notable shift from the previous year’s relentless heat.
Where’s It Coolest in Mumbai?
South Mumbai (Colaba, Nariman Point): Thanks to its coastal location, daytime temperatures are expected to stay around 29–30°C, with nights dipping to a pleasant 17–18°C.
Suburban Areas (Bandra, Andheri, Borivali): This is where the cool is most noticeable. Day temperatures may hover around 28–29°C, while nights could drop as low as 15–16°C.
Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan: These outer regions of the Mumbai Metropolitan area are likely to record the chilliest nights, with temperatures falling close to 15°C.
What’s Next?
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), most parts of the country are expected to experience above-normal temperatures between April and June. But Mumbai’s unique geography might again come to its rescue — with on-and-off showers and cool nights potentially easing the summer sting.
So, while the rest of the nation battles the blaze, Mumbai might just enjoy a refreshing pause — a rare and welcome cool smile from the skies.
